T “Born into a family of theater lovers, I saw my first opera at the age of seven and I was hooked. My first movie in a cinema was the midnight premiere of The Lord of the Rings. The kids were not allowed in, but my parents didn’t care much for the rules. I think I got that from them. It all started there.

I believe roles choose you, exactly when you need them.

Gala

 Slavic-sounding grand diva.”Los Angeles Times

Gala is a tall, redheaded actress born in Rijeka, a small town on the Mediterranean coast. After completing primary school for classical ballet, she discovered her true calling in acting. She earned her BA at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka, studying under renowned actor Rade Šerbedžija (Snatch, Eyes Wide Shut) and director Lenka Udovički (Shakespeare's Globe).

Following her studies, Gala performed in numerous theater productions at Ulysses Theatre, Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc and the Istrian National Theater. She starred alongside her professor in Fishing and Fishermen's Conversations, which premiered at the Pula Film Festival and received multiple awards.

She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, where she became the first Croatian accepted into the Acting program. She joins a distinguished group of alumni, including Sofia Coppola, Tim Burton, Ed Harris, and Alison Brie.

In 2021, Gala made her Los Angeles debut at REDCAT as the female lead in Aryan Papers. She later performed in both Los Angeles and Paris in Augustine Machine by Travis Preston.

For her role in the Pulitzer Prize–winning play Fairview by Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed by Oz Scott, she received a rave review from the Los Angeles Times, marking her as one of the few Croatian actresses with international acclaim.

Gala is passionate about telling women’s stories and finds creative freedom in directing, writing, and acting. Her one-woman show Land of the Wolves ran for three seasons at Ulysses Theatre and won an award in Serbia.

Outside of her artistic work, she has developed a deep love for climbing and holds a special affection for Studio Ghibli films. She dreams of one day voicing a Ghibli villain—a goal symbolized by the tattoo she carries as a reminder to “keep the forest inside her, smiling and thriving.”
